Mesothelioma is the worst asbestos-related disease, but

Mesothelioma is the worst asbestos-related disease, but it is far from the only one. Asbestosis is a respiratory disorder caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibers. Asbestosis is generally associated with high levels of fiber inhalation. If you have an asbestos related disease such as asbestosis, mesothelioma or cancer you will probably be able to claim for compensation. There are a number of different illnesses which are, or may be, caused by asbestos exposure, although you cannot claim compensation for them all.

Veterans who were exposed to asbestos are encourgaged to get checked. It is strongly encouraged that anyone who has had past asbestos exposure be checked periodically for asbestos disease. Early detection is vital, since even lung cancers have a higher survival rate if caught early. Note: Although these diseases are non-cancerous at the onset, they can be progressive, eventually leading to a need for inhalers or oxygen. Asbestos is a carcinogen which means that it can cause cancer.
